WeWriWa: Beyond the Divide, excerpt 4 (#Paranormal UF #8Sunday)

I’m back! Trying to get it all together since I haven’t blogged in over a week, but I’m back!

Today I have more paranormal goodies from Beyond the Divide, the sequel to Fractured Legacy.

This snippet is brought to you as part of the Weekend Writing Warriors meme. If you remember from last time, the apparition was about to ask for a favor. It’s probably not as bad as it sounds, right?

The obvious refusal to answer the question was disconcerting, but Kaylyn closed her eyes. “Favor?”

Ida’s head turned slowly as her gaze swept around the room, she was in no hurry for whatever she’d come for.

Kaylyn knotted her fingers beneath the blanket, waiting to be swept into a nightmare. Waiting for the apparition to ask for some kind of impossible feat.

“Watch out for Jonah,” Ida said in a whispered plea.

The simple request didn’t bring relief, only more questions. “He’s my boss, I think it’s implied in the job description.”

I’ll be working on my visits today and throughout the week as I finish preliminary edits, so I’ll catch you all then. 🙂

  1. very mysterious and tense situation… I wonder if the apparition means it as a warning about Jonah for Haylyn’s welfare or for Jonah’s welfare. Great 8.

  2. Very mysterious! If I was in Kaylyn’s position, I’d be waiting for the other shoe to drop. There must be a reason she was asked to do that, but what is it?? Great way to bring on the shivers!

  3. I liked her response to the favor but something tells me that they aren’t on the same page. Maybe I’m reading too much into it, but for some reason I feel like it’s more a warning than a request.

  4. Hmm, I think I’d be a bit worried if the favor I was supposed to perform came out as a warning. Or is it a warning? Very interesting snippet!
